Load/deflection data was generated for edge beam loading of Royal Wood® Trimboards. Use this information only as a gross predictor of product performance, and not for precise engineering calculations or design work. Safety factors were not included in this data.
Royal Wood Exterior Trim products are not represented as structural building components, and this data or any other obtained should not be referenced to support such a claim.
Criteria Utilized (Note, changing any of these variable may generate different results)
- Products used were Royal Wood Trimboards in three thicknesses and in one width (5/8" x 4", 4/4" x 4", and 5/4" x 4" nominal).
- Clear spans testes were 4' and 8'
- The beam was oriented in the upright position with the 3 ½" dimension perpendicular to the floor.
- The ends of the beam were rigidly fastened with screws.
- The beam was center loaded with a 50 pound point load in the middle of the beam
- The test was duplicated four times at each span
- Averages of the four replications are used for the deflection data listed in the table
- The cumulative error in this testing technique is approximately 0.5". Results are rounded to the nearest 0.25".
